In Thea: The Awakening there are various types of equipment, which can be assigned to equipment slots for each character on the equipment screen. Each piece of equipment adds or improves certain attributes of its carrier.

Types of slots from left to right and top to bottom:

  • Tool
  • Ranged weapon
  • Armour
  • Artifact
  • Left hand
  • Right hand
  • Jewellery left
  • Jewellery right

Two-handed weapons require both the left and the right slot. One-handed weapons can only be assigned to the right hand slot (left side) and shields only to the left hand slot (right side).

Some character classes do not have all equipment slots available. For example, non-human classes such as Beast or Ghost may have very few or no slots at all!

Tools[]

See also: Craft Tools and Gathering Tools crafting recipes

There are two types of tools: Craft Tools and Gathering Tools.

Craft Tools improve the Craft Craft attribute of its carrier by 1-5 depending on the materials used to craft the tool. Gathering Tools also improve the Gathering Gathering attribute by 1-6 depending on the materials used.

Ranged Weapons[]

See also: Bow and crossbow crafting recipes

Ranged weapons do not improve the Damage Damage property of their carriers like melee weapons do. Instead, they improve the Ranged Damage Ranged Damage attribute, which is used for the Support Ally tactical ability during fighting and hunting challenges. Because ranged weapons have their own equipment slot, every character can carry a ranged weapon in addition to whatever melee weapon they are using.

There are two types of ranged weapons: bows and crossbows. Crossbows do more Ranged Damage than bows, but are heavier and require an additional advancement point to be able to craft.

Armour[]

Armour equipment improves the Armour Armour attribute. The Armour attribute is used to calculate the hit points in a fighting challenge. Some armours may also give Shielding Shielding, Dexterity Dexterity, or other attributes.

Artifacts[]

See also: Artifact crafting recipes

Artifacts can have a wide variety of attributes. Some may give Shielding Shielding, while others give Attractiveness Attractiveness or Animal Kinship Animal Kinship. Artifacts can also have more than one attribute.

Weapons[]

See also: 1-handed and 2-handed sword, 1-handed and 2-handed axe, club and war hammer, and staff and pike crafting recipes

The main use for weapons is to improve the Damage Damage, Poison Poison, and Leech Leech attributes, but they can also give other attributes. Weapons are the only type of equipment which can have the Piercing Damage Piercing Damage or Blunt Damage Blunt Damage attributes, which give tactical advantages in fighting challenges.

Each type of melee weapon has a specific feature:

  • Swords give Shielding Shielding
  • Axes do additional Damage Damage
  • Clubs and war hammers do Blunt Damage Blunt Damage
  • Staves and pikes do Piercing Damage Piercing Damage

The two-handed versions of weapons are more or less the same as the the one-handed ones, but all the bonus attributes are improved. The trade-off is that the character can no longer carry a shield, if the character is not a warrior.

Shields[]

See also: Shield crafting recipes

Shields improve the Shielding Shielding and Armour Armour attributes, and give the Shield Ally tactical ability in fighting challenges. Some may also give additional attributes.

Jewellery[]

Jewellery is similar to artifacts. It can provide many different attributes. Note that not all character types have jewellery slots.
